Hey Daily Kos Community –
I wanted to start this diary off with a definition.
Hypocrisy: The practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behavior does not conform; pretense.
The reason I wanted to start this diary off with that definition is because it really defines Chris Christie. When he ran for governor, he talked about how he was a fiscal conservative who would cut waste out of the budget. Fast forward a few years, and New Jersey is dealing with the awful aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
Families are struggling to make ends meet and to put their lives back together. And after we started to recover, Chris Christie wanted to run some ads that describe how Jersey has come back stronger than ever and how the Jersey Shore is open for business. He got several proposals for ad campaigns and it came down to two different companies: one that wanted to charge $2 million more than the other, but it featured Christie and his family prominently in the ad. The cheaper option didn’t feature the Governor.
Did Christie, the fiscal conservative, choose the less expensive one, so he could spend more money helping families get back to normal? Nope. He went with the more expensive one, because it featured his family and since Christie is up for re-election, he wanted to bolster his chances.
Well Christie might think that his choice didn’t have consequences. But the truth is, it did. That is why my campaign started a petition to demand Christie return the two million dollars to the taxpayers. Can you click here and add your name to our petition?
I also wanted to share with you a video that my campaign made that shows just what the consequences of Christie’s actions really were.
Thanks for standing up to Chris Christie.
Barbara
PS: Recently word came out that Christie had a fundraiser with Sheldon Adelson in Las Vegas. Our campaign is a true people-powered movement. Can you click here and chip in $3 to help us match Christie’s special interest backers?
