Received this e-mail today from Alison Lundergan Grimes (D. KY) regarding Mitch McConnell (R. KY) and Senior Citizens:
I learned growing up that you don’t turn your back on your community. You don’t turn your back on our mothers, our veterans or our seniors. We take care of our own here in this state, and we help to lift each other up.
Senator McConnell has forgotten those values. In Washington, he’s tried to advance an ideological agenda that would completely take away Medicare benefits from thousands of Kentucky seniors, and severely cut the amount of Social Security money they receive to get by.
Our Commonwealth deserves a Senator that will work for all of us, instead of catering to the Tea Party and radical right.
Senator Mitch McConnell is wrong for seniors and Kentucky. As we celebrate the 78th anniversary of Social Security, let’s take a stand against McConnell’s reckless, anti-senior agenda.
Tell Senator McConnell: Stop the attacks on our seniors:

I believe in balancing the budget the same way we do our pocketbooks at home. The key is cutting the programs that aren’t working and making sure that those that do are running more efficiently. As your next U.S. Senator, I will work to reduce spending without sacrificing the investments and promises we have made to protect Medicare and Social Security.
Attacking programs that help our seniors is not the answer to solving our country’s fiscal crisis. But I need your help to make sure Senator McConnell knows where we stand.
Tell Senator Mitch McConnell you have had enough:

Thanks for all you do.

Grimes is being very smart focusing on winning over the Senior Citizen vote which Democrats need to win for the midterms. Grimes' campaign is even taking it up a notch:

Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes started a new outreach to senior voters on Wednesday with an initiative she has dubbed "Grannies for Grimes."
Grimes' 83-year-old maternal grandmother, Elsie Case, will lead the effort. Case, who has proven especially popular with Grimes supporters, already has appeared in campaign ads on behalf of her granddaughter and has been a regular on the campaign trail.
As head of "Grannies for Grimes," Case will use Twitter and Facebook to provide campaign updates and to encourage other senior citizens to get behind Grimes, who has promised to protect and strengthen Social Security and Medicaid.
Case said senior citizens need to be politically involved, because "there's simply too much at stake in this campaign to sit on the sidelines."
"Alison has been fearlessly fighting for the little guy her entire life," Case said in a statement. "And as Kentucky's next U.S. senator, I'm confident that she will protect and strengthen Social Security and Medicare for all of our fellow seniors and make sure these programs are still intact for our kids and grandkids." - The Republic, 8/14/13
This isn't the first time Grimes has used her grandmother to help out on her campaign:
McConnell has stated that he's willing to support the chained CPI as part of a Grand Bargain so Grimes needs to keep up with these types of attacks. If you would like to get involved with Grimes' campaign, you can do so here:
