They might not be finding
many takers among actual Republican elected types, but that's
not going to stop the tea party industry from the fight that has been raising the big bucks for them for three years.
Tea Party Patriots and the grassroots group For America are launching online ads against a dozen GOP senators who either oppose the effort or haven’t announced a position.
Along with the ads, leaders of the groups will embark on a six-state, five-day “Exempt America” tour (the idea being that the American people should be exempt from Obamacare) that will bring them to the home states of several of these senators. [...]
Through the online ads and the multi-state tour, Tea Party Patriots and For America will accuse such senators of supporting the law if they vote for a budget or a continuing resolution that includes money for Obamacare.
For America, by the way, is about as far from "grassroots" as you would expect any PAC founded by Fox News regular Brent Bozell to be. There's little "grassroots" about any of the organized opposition to Obamacare, other than the money raised from the people who continue to be duped into thinking a law upheld by the Supreme Court can be repealed if they stamp their feet and hold their breath.
Once again, this isn't a popular revolt, as you can tell by the lack of genuine outrage on display this summer. On the upside, it's making life difficult for Sens. John Cornyn (TX), Lindsey Graham (SC), Mark Kirk (IL), Kelly Ayotte (NH), Tom Coburn (OK) and Richard Burr (NC)—some of whom have publicly dismissed of the idea of a government shutdown as pointless and stupid—as well as House Speaker John Boehner and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. Anything that makes life more difficult for Boehner and McConnell can't be all bad.
