Now, I could have just skipped the physical; however, with my family health history it is not a wise thing to do. So I scheduled the appointment and adjusted my budget so that I would have enough money to go in for my check-up.
The day finally arrived and I left work early. An unexpected expense had come up, I would have to put this visit on a credit card.
I walked up to the self-check in kiosk and put in my member number. It never asked for my co-pay. I asked the receptionist how I could pay for this visit.
"Are you here for a physical?" she asked.
"Yes Ma'am." I responded.
"There are no co-pays for physicals anymore. It is part of the Affordable Care Act." She said in her obviously memorized spiel.
I spent the next half hour with my Doctor, changed one medication, got two shots, a physical examination and had blood drawn for tests.
The entire visit cost me $6 and that was for the new medication.
I am not sure how the GOP will be able to run on repealing the ACA when more people start having experiences like mine.
