John Bolton
Ladies and gentlemen, prepare your mustache jokes. Former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton is planning to run for president. One of the architects of the Iraq war,
Bolton's rationale for running is that:
My hypothesis is that voters are practical and they care more about national security than the media seems to believe; I think, right now, especially after two terms of President Obama, they want a president who has the know-how to lead during a crisis, a president who can defend our national interests,” he says.
Because nothing says "practical" and "know-how to lead during a crisis" like lying the nation into a disastrous war.
While it's true that the media often gets the priorities of the voting population all wrong, in poll after poll, when voters are asked which of seven or so choices is their priority, foreign policy comes in fifth or below—and presumably some of those people are naming foreign policy as their priority because of their opposition to the disastrous policies of George W. Bush and John Bolton.
As for the mustache, never fear. Word is he'll keep it.
