Late yesterday, the news broke that Ben Affleck has been cast as Batman in the next installment of the series, which is due to hit theaters in July 2015. The reaction was swift ... and largely negative. i09.com compiled a list of the "50 greatest tweets about Ben Affleck's casting as Batman":
Sure, Affleck has been a part of some real stinkers in his career.
Gigli,
Daredevil, and
Surviving Christmas come to mind. But when you have a long career in the movie business you are bound to be tied to some bad roles.
He's also been a part of some pretty great movies over the years, including Good Will Hunting, The Company Men, The Town and Argo.
Time Magazine's entertainment section has as a rundown on seven reasons fans are unhappy, but they all seem to boil down to this:
I can't really understand the hate for Ben Affleck in this role, I think he's going to be fantastic. He's got the acting chops, fantastic experience directing (which has given him a leg up in the acting department IMO), and let's face it - he's got a fantastic jaw and chin for that mask. But, people seem to feel strongly one way or the other.
And with that, I'll open it up to comments, sit back and enjoy the show!
