I have to say - it was a great night in Columbia Missouri! The weather was nice and pretty, we had great attendance and people who were really interested in doing something - and those who had already done great things for Missouri sat down and broke bread with us.
Glitterscale, Man Oh Man, Myself from Kos attended - and quite a few non-Kosser's made an appearance... we have to give special thanks to State Legislator John Wright - http://www.wright4missouri.com/ - who was willing to come and meet with us and discuss his viewpoint.
John works with the state party on recruiting democrats to run in districts that, as we all noted, all too often go completely unchallenged. We discussed the difficulties of recruiting candidates, the way to handle message into those communities, and what it will take to build a party, not in the next one year, two year, but how to look at things in the longterm.
We definitely appreciated John making an effort to be with us, and we're glad he was able to expand some of his thoughts to talk to us about what the community needed.
Most of our attendees were -not- Kossacks. That's great! I'm sure for a few that was a bit of a shock, but it was also a chance to meet with people who spend a lot of time on the ground trying to change their communities.
Don't worry, several more pictures I think are coming from Man Oh Man, let's just say.. it was a long drive back and forth and I'm still just ready to relax.
I definitely have to thank the Trey Bistro, which did us a special service. I had worked with their staff before to get tables lined out, and have a table sign to note where we were; Trey Bistro took a giant sign labeled 'KOSSACKS' and taped it up in their storefront Window to let people know where we were. Thank you to the Trey Bistro for their help and great service.
