But first, let's start with some biting commentary.

Little Luis Suarez had a mouthful, and it choked up on him. After biting an Italian opponent in the shoulder during the most recent game,  (this is the third time) Uruguay's most talented striker is banned for four months and at least nine games. This means both his country's team and Liverpool will be more toothless in the near future.

Colombia is flashing a toothy grin  - Uruguay's next opponent.

NOW, ON TO THE US vs. Deutsche game!

The weather outside is frightful
A first goal would be delightful,
And since we must win or tie,
Be onside, be onside be onside.

The rain shows no signs of stopping,
So I've bought some corn for popping,
The field  lights are turned way high,
Be onside, be onside, be onside.

9:35 AM PT: 29:30  No one can honestly say that they are playing for a tie. Both teams are playing all out.

One yellow on Germany. Good call.

10:06 AM PT: 47:10 teams are tied 0-0. Portugal is beating Ghana 1-0. If this holds both Germany and we advance.

10:16 AM PT: 50:50 A nice goal by Germany. Our defense held initially, but the ball rebounded out and there was no time to cover.

Ghana - Portugal are now tied 1-1

10:43 AM PT: 83:45 stil 1-0 against, but Portugal has taken the lead, which is great for the US and A.

US looks tired, beat, worn down.

10:49 AM PT: 90:00 four minuten stoppage time. Still down 1-0

10:52 AM PT: Holy header batman! Two close plays, almost tied it.

Wow. The US and A hath life in stoppage.

But, GAMER OVER. 1-0

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
