I suppose that depends on your definition of work.
Will it stop the Tehran-Riyadh/Shia-Sunni rivalry?
Will it stabilize Iraq?
Will Syria regard it as an act of war, will Russia?
Will it persuade Putin to stop supporting Assad?
Will it help the Lebanon?
What will it do other than partially assuage the warmongers in DC?
Will it make the USA look strong?
Will it reduce terrorism?
Is it something designed to give comfort our conscience that we are seen to be doing something to stop the horror show?
How often will we hear the term collateral damage?
Is it just the run up to having boots on the ground?
Do we know who will benefit from this bombing campaign?
Do we know who will suffer?
Is Libya a viable comparison where we helped overthrow a dictator but did absolutely zero to manage the outcome?
Is it like our support for democracy in Egypt which to all intents and purposes resulted in going back to where it started with military rule?
So the final questions
Who thinks bombing ISIS is actually going to resolve anything?
Are we hoping to be greeted with flowers?
Or be in this same quandary 20 years from now?
If we cannot answer the questions, then what the hell are we doing?
7:11 AM PT: This is beginning to remind me of the logic used pre Afghanistan and Iraq invasions.
I still have the same opinion on those as well.
