You can't be serious. They're "just curious" about why a town with absolutely miserable internet speeds would want to go behind their monopolistic backs and seek better service elsewhere? And gasp ! particularly from the local government? Treacherous heathens AT&T must be saying.
Good sense and having two brain cells to rub together tells us that the obvious answer behind AT&T's flabbergasted legal bumbling is "you cannot haz my profits! Overpay for your shitty service and like it or we'll sue you because we're losing money". Right... Right... Because in a "free market" like ours, nobody ever lost customers to outside competition for providing subpar service at excessive prices.
Time for new trust busting. The monopolies need to end. The greed needs to end. Corporations should exist to serve people, people do not serve corporations.
