My high-school friend Geoff Young is running as a progressive against the only other Dem candidate, Jack Conway.
A few weeks ago, the Kentucky Democratic Party held a "unity conference" in which Geoff was not even allowed to speak. The KDP chairman, who had been hand-picked by the Governor, announced that the whole party was united behind Jack Conway.
This is in clear violation of the KDP bylaws and deprives Democratic primary voters from an opportunity to hear Geoff's platform. I expect this more from Republicans - to see this in a state DEMOCRATIC party is demoralizing.
Please let the KDP know what you think. Details below the fold - thanks!
Geoff Young of Lexington, who is running for Kentucky Governor this year, filed a civil lawsuit today in Franklin Circuit Court against his primary election opponent, Democrat Jack Conway, and four other powerful Democrats. The other four defendants are Governor Steve Beshear, Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes, party chairman Patrick Hughes, and former Democratic chairman Dan Logsdon. The primary election will be held on May 19, 2015.
The lawsuit accuses the five Democrats of "conspiracy to defraud Kentucky's Democratic voters, corruption, cronyism, and intentional violation of party bylaws." The full text can be found at:

When asked why he was filing the lawsuit today instead of next week, Geoff Young answered, "I'm 58 years old, and I've learned that filing a huge lawsuit is often the only way to get a white-collar criminal to return your phone calls."
