Let us suppose for a moment that it is a Saturday in a small Montana town and some of the locals have gathered their pickups in a grocery store parking lot. This is Montana, which means that pickups are highly esteemed. People mill around admiring these works of art. Then, for some reason, there is a catastrophe and the scene is frozen in time, like the Roman city of Pompeii, to await discovery by future archaeologists. Archaeologists, not fully understanding the nature of this assembly of artifacts, will, in their infinite wisdom, classify this as a ceremonial site and speculate on the nature of the pickup gods and their worship. Shown below are photographs of the Pickup Gods of the Parking Lot, a religious ceremonial site.
