Some of you may know I'm filmmaker who also works for a (501c) non-profit in NYC that teaches film making to at-risk kids. We partner with Covenant House, Ali Forney and other non-profits to provide "hands on" film making workshops to kids who are falling though the cracks of our increasingly porous social safety nets. We find a story THEY want to tell.
These stories have covered a wide range emotional, social, political, and philosophical subject matters: Click here to see a Highlight reel of the films our kids have made. We take these stories and teach our kids the the craft of visual story telling.
Bringing in Professional actors and film makers to make their stories come alive in way they never thought possible.
After the films are made we treat the kids to special premiere night for friends and family where we setup a "green carpet" to take photos and play their movies on a big screen.
How can you help? This quarter we are a running a special workshop aimed at engaging more young women who want to be filmmakers. We've launched this Kick Starter campaign to raise the funds we need to pull it off. Please consider donating to this special project for 24 young women to learn valuable technical and creative skills. Please pass this campaign on to anyone you may know who'd be interested in helping, and consider a small donation if you can afford one. Sharing on Social media is always a great help too.
