I deserve special rights. You got a problem with that? Contact God.
It's time to remove Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis from her job given that she is unwilling to perform the duties required. Since the June Supreme Court ruling, Davis has stopped granting marriage licenses to all couples—straight and gay—and on Thursday she denied a marriage license to a same-sex couple for the third consecutive time,
reports Mike Wynn.
James Yates and William Smith Jr. left the Rowan County Courthouse on Thursday, frustrated that clerks have now refused them a marriage license for a third time but promising to return.
The couple said they felt that Rowan Clerk Kim Davis was obligated to provide the paperwork after appellate judges refused to stay a federal injunction against Davis on Wednesday. But a deputy clerk said he was under orders to turn them away.
The Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals Wednesday
denied Davis's request to delay an order that would compel her to start issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples in spite of her religious beliefs.
Davis, desperate to keep discriminating, is now appealing straight up to the U.S. Supreme Court, where Justice Elena Kagan can intervene in the Sixth Circuit. Just a guess that that's not gonna fall Davis's way.
This is real simple: if you can't do the job you're sworn to do, you resign the job or you're removed. No special rights for the "religious"—they can't continue to suck up taxpayer funds whilst not performing their duties.
