So, as we all know, the possibility of a government shutdown is all too real.
I personally live on a pretty small amount of social security. And I live in an expensive area in Northern California. I am fortunate to have cheap rent but I do struggle...And I do manage. I do.
And it is my understanding, although it is not absolutely for sure, that social security will probably go out in the event of a shutdown. What they said to me is that it went out last time so they expect the deposits to go through next week. But it didn't seem 100% for sure. And fortunately I can manage should the deposits not be sent.
But as many of us also know, the food stamp program may be caught short.
So if there is a shutdown, I am pledging to donate 10.00 to my area food bank. Little enough I know but what I can do. I am writing this in the hopes that others will join me. If you can't donate, I more than understand. But you can rec/hotlist/repub anywhere that would work. And of course volunteering or cleaning out your pantry may also be an option.
So, that is my pledge. I refuse to be put in a position of choosing between women dying for lack of care or people going hungry. Enough...
Thx for whatever you can do...my best/Sh
