I have made multiple attempts here to argue that we must vote for the Democratic nominee for President in the general election even if he or she is not our preferred candidate. I have pointed out that an abstention or a vote for a third party candidate has the same effect mathematically as half a vote for the Republican. I have taken the position that even the worst candidate or likely candidate on the Democratic side is enormously preferable to the best candidate or likely candidate on the Republican side, and that it is counter-productively spiteful for members of our community to "punish" the Democratic party for what we may perceive to be a wrong choice of nominee by punishing the whole country by helping select a Republican.
But I have definitely seen some take the position on this site that "no way" will they vote for Democratic candidate X.
I have seen others take the position that there is such a negligible percentage of such people at DailyKos or in the liberal community that it is not worth my getting upset about it or bothering to argue the point -- if Democrats lose, it will not be because of disaffected democrats protesting the party's choice by abstentions or third-party votes.
I am not so sure.
So I am polling the community: are you or are you not committed to vote for the Democratic nominee regardless of whether he or she is your preferred candidate? I am breaking down the votes by preferred candidate.
