Not much of a diary tonight. Just watching Hillary live at the Jefferson Jackson dinner in Iowa and WOW...
I am proud of my candidate. Hillary is on fire.
She spoke eloquently and with passion and fired up the crowd.
She spoke about basic fairness in America, calling for raising the minimum wage and for making sure corporations pay their fair share. She was passionate about climate change and taking on the gun lobby. Her words on how Republicans claim that she is playing the "gender card" were absolutely priceless.
And, talking about her long years of service and fighting for women's rights, worker's rights, LGBT rights, she said, towards the end "I am just getting started."
The jabs at Trump were just the right thing too.
I have my candidate. I am proud of her and I believe the GOP does not yet realize the fighting spirit she brings to the election. I am glad they don't. I am glad they continue to dismiss her and underestimate her. They are in for a VERY rude awakening.
Sat Oct 24, 2015 at 9:20 PM PT: Update: She was also impressive in one more sense -- she talked a lot about local Iowa issues -- from the craziness of Iowa's republican governor, to how Iowa is leading the nation in using renewable energy. Impressive, because it demonstrates preparedness, knowledge, and the ability to weave local issues into a national narrative. Impressive also because those lines got her some of the biggest applause of the night.
