I've lived a few. Seen some shit. Even done some myself. My son went to high school at
Santana in Santee, and I went through that mess as well. So maybe this is a
last straw, but I don't see it that way. What I see here is the under-belly of a mindset. I see the irrationality of a growing extremist mentality. I see the "outlaws that will have guns" if guns are outlawed.
“This Scarlet Lewis person is a real sick human being,”
“Scarlett Lewis is a fraud and a sellout to all of humanity,”
“Scarlett Lewis is a lying traitor,”
Scarlett Lewis sounds like she's not a very good person according to these reviews on Amazon.com. That's where these lines come from -- all from anonymous persons. She wrote a book called Nurturing Healing Love. Well, we all know that those real bad ones try to write books like that, try to hide their sour souls in lovey-wovey-gibberish. The book is about the loss of Jesse Hook, her six year-old son, who was murdered at Sandy Hook school. Murdered by a gunman. A man that showed up and started killing people.
These 'reviews' posted on the Amazon page for this book began showing up after “RadMc02” uploaded a video on Oct. 18 in which he declares that the Sandy Hook shooting was a hoax, and encourages viewers to “Truth Bomb the Shit Out of Amazon Reviews!” The purpose of the hoax is so that the government can increase gun laws and gun restrictions, according to this poster.
This is just one example of the mentality of a growing segment in our population.
In the last 10 years, this segment of our population has come to the attention of the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Combating Terrorism Center at West Point. During the last 10 years each of these groups have noted that the violence and criminal actions perpetrated by this segment has risen 700%. Each of these groups now categorize this segment as Domestic Terrorism.
Right wing, Christian groups. The far right example, the high echelon of what it means to be conservative. The extreme view of Freedom Groups.
I saw a meme once that said, "Be Careful when they tell you that you are free, and talk about your freedom - free people don't need to be told they are free." I gave it a grin, but lately that meme rises in my memory -- nearly every day lately. Today we have the Freedom Caucus, and the Freedom Church of God. People who feel the pope isn't conservative enough. People who feel that if you don't agree with them, you are a traitor to the nation. People who say that all Democrats should be slaughtered.
People who demand guns.
Up until this point I really haven't given much thought to people having guns or not, but with this "truth bombing" it occurs to me that it is irresponsible in the highest degree to give a known wack-job a gun. And while I disagree in the marrow of my bones against the 'Government Big Brother' keeping tabs on Joe Public, when a person demonstrates they are unhinged, as displayed by the Reviews of Truth above, it is irresponsible not to tag and note that activity. There is Freedom of Speech and there is The Voice of Violence, and the line between them is as wide as a fat cow's thigh, and if you can't tell when you've crossed it -- you shouldn't be walking around with a loaded gun.
So, Truthers, you win. I'm now convinced that gun control is not only required it is a necessity. I am, personally, no longer 'undecided'. Your message is clear, and so is your intent.
“The far right represents a more extreme version of conservatism, as its political vision is usually justified by the aspiration to restore or preserve values and practices that are part of the idealized historical heritage of the nation or ethnic community.” ~ Arie Perlinger, West Point professor
