As many of you know, last month was a bit rough for me. I lost the uncle that I’ve always felt closest to, and then I got into a single vehicle accident, and rode a guard rail into a tree. I was mostly okay, but Dervish broke his back and surgery would be no help (as we found out the morning after).
Today I got word from my case manager that we’ve raised enough for at least the majority of the training (and getting the dog, equipment, and a vet visit), so I’m closing this down.
I just wanted everyone know how grateful that I am, for all the love and care you’ve shown for my Dervish, and for how much you’ve helped make a new service dog possible. It floors me, and makes me feel both small and cared for. Daily Kos is one of the most caring communities on the ‘net.
Due to some regulations, we cannot fundraise for a car for me to buy. I’m sorry, to all of you who wanted to meet that goal. We’ve heard back from some experts, and the only way that will work is if I buy a car for $1-$10 dollars, and the owner assumes all associated costs of the sale of the car, and if I’m allowed to have full documentation of the same, in case I’m audited. As you see, it’s a different kettle of fish, and I can’t be attached in any way.
I can do without a car, if I have to. We’ll manage! :)
Again, I thank you all so very much. I can’t wait to get my service dog prospect, and as soon
as I do, there will be another diary with updates on how it’s all going, and of course, pictures! Pictures of new dogs are required, I know. I won’t fall down on the job.
