When Bill Clinton lashed out at a couple of Black Lives Matters protesters in Philadelphia with knee-jerk Republicanesque narratives saying: "Black Lives Matter is defending the people who are killing the lives you say matter", then going on to to describe what Hillary used to call "Superpredators" like this; "Drug dealers who gave crack to 13 yr. olds so they could go out and and murder other African Americans", I was reminded that this is the man who remains Hillary's closest and most trusted of all of her Advisers.
Not only did Bill Clinton mis-characterize the goals of Black Lives Matter, but he threw in a tired old stereotype many racists relish reinforcing at every opportunity. Bill then tried to deflect their criticisms by changing the subject to Africa: "I'll tell you another story about a place where black lives matter: Africa."
Yes I realize one of the protesters' signs was pretty provocative, but Bill Clinton should know better than to say the repugnant things he did. Once again Bill Clinton's judgement, or more accurately his lack of judgement is on display for the whole world to see.
Other examples of Bill Clinton's poor judgement includes his draconian (bordering on Dickensian) Welfare 'Reform' Law, and cuts in the Capital Gains and Dividend tax rates that were even deeper than his successor George W. Bush's cuts. Never mind Bill promise to be fair to Americans of more modest means who "worked hard and play by the rules", that was just his campaign sales talk. Do we really want Bill advising Hillary to preserve his legacy of squeezing the poor, or his legacy of tax cuts on unearned income for the wealthy?
Bill Clinton's poor judgement is a long standing pattern, and we should expect it to continue should Hillary become the Democratic nominee. And if Hillary does become our next President, Bill is very likely to remain Hillary's closest and one of her most trusted Advisers. I for one find that prospect troubling.
