There’s been growing speculation about the people on Secretary Clinton’s short list for possible VP picks, and much of it has centered on the possibility of US Senator Elizabeth Warren. A Boston Globe article1 speculated about the potential back in early June, noting
The upshot of Reid’s review is that Senate Democrats may have found an avenue to block or at least narrow GOP Governor Charlie Baker’s ability to name a temporary replacement and prevent the Senate from flipping to a Democratic majority if Warren were to leave the chamber. That suggests the issue is not as significant an obstacle as Reid previously feared.
More recently, AddictingInfo.org recently noticed that Warren — originally slated as a keynote speaker at the DNC — has been removed from the roster:
“...one huge clue was given when Elizabeth Warren showed up at Hillary Clinton’s Washington D.C. home today, but an ever bigger clue has come as Warren’s name appears to no longer be on the speaking schedule for the Democratic National Convention.Originally slotted to speak as the keynote speaker on Monday night of the convention, Warren’s name is now missing.”
So, the keynote slot may be getting a different speaker in order to free up Warren to focus on and appear in other festivities. Granted, that’s pure speculation...but taken together, it’s beginning to look like that short list is getting a lot shorter...
So far, the two possible scenarios I’ve posted about — this one (Clinton-Warren) and the previous, albeit slightly more playful piece (Clinton-MegaCharizard) — are, IMNSHO, both tenable and both quite likely to crush the GOP’s TP underfoot in the general election.
What do you think?
What options are you looking at / speculating upon?
