“I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!” One ice cream man nicknamed The Creamcycle Dude is answering the call and paying it forward in “underserved” New York neighborhoods. He charges jut $1 per frozen treat, but if the kids don’t have a dollar or can’t afford it, he gives them the ice cream after they answer a history or math question. (If they struggle with the answers, he gives them hints to help them answer, learn and score a frozen treat.) James Karagiannis is his name and he does his good deeds from a pedal-powered cart. How does he afford to do this? Good News Network reports:
As people found out about the Dude’s generosity, they began sending money to pay for the treats he gives away.
So far, more than $6,000 have been donated, but he’s also an additional lesson to the curriculum for his little customers — he’s asking them to write “thank you” letters to the donors whenever they take a frozen treat.
Karagiannis says he’ll use any leftover donations for youth programs in the community. His Pay It Forward campaign is sponsored through Square.
