When Rachel Maddow interviewed Planned Parenthood President, Cecile Richards, about Hillary’s selection of Tim Kaine as VP today, Cecile Richards was unequivocal:
“[I’m] very enthusiastic. He’s been a great senator, he has had a 100% voting record in the U.S. Senate,” Richards said. “He’s been a strong ally.” She says that she did not always agree with Kaine’s positions as governor, but that he’s been a strong Senator, and she acknowledges him as “more than a vote on reproductive issues — he’s a strong ally.”
Planned Parenthood’s Richards goes on to call this “the strongest reproductive rights ticket we’ve ever had,” with “the strongest platform ever.” As contrasted, she notes, with Mike Pence who was a national leader in the effort to de-fund Planned Parenthood.
