McMorris Rodgers, a member of the House Republican leadership, stood beside GOP vice presidential nominee Gov. Mike Pence at a Republican leaders' news conference, and sang praises of the Trump-Pence ticket.
"We are excited at the leadership of Donald Trump and Mike Pence that they're bringing to this country to 'Make America great again'," McMorris Rodgers told the news conference.
The six-term Eastern Washington House member praised the "new, fresh dynamic leadership" at the top of her party's leadership.
"It was a highlight of this year actually to have Mike Pence today address our (Republican House) conference," said McMorris Rodgers.
Her enthusiasm is not shared by a number of Washington state Republicans
The Republicans' U.S. Senate candidate, Chris Vance, has said he won't be voting for the Trump-Pence ticket. So has GOP gubernatorial candidate Bill Bryant. U.S. Rep. Dave Reickert, R-Wash., has said he will not vote for Trump. The GOP's 2012 gubernatorial nominee Rob McKenna has renounced Trump.
Yesterday I wrote this which included a video from a local tv interview in August. In that interview she twisted herself into a pretzel avoiding repeated questions about her endorsement of Trump and whether she found it difficult to support him given his...his...vileness. Well today she found her voice, because she is singing his praises loudly and proudly.
I cannot help wondering what they have offered her- a cabinet position maybe?
Previously, however, she has qualified the endorsement. McMorris Rodgers, who has a son with Down syndrome, had taken Trump to task for mocking the physical disabilities of a reporter, and for his attitude toward women.
"In the months ahead, he will have to earn the presidency by demonstrating he has the temperament for the job and plans to empower every American to pursue a future of opportunity and freedom," she said in May.
And there is this piece by Shawn Vestal at the Spokesman Review talking about her at length ending with-
“Yes, I am supporting Donald Trump,” she said, “and I am doing everything I can to help elect Donald Trump and Mike Pence to be our president and vice president.”
A team player, through and through.
I would like a new fresh, dynamic Representative!
