Morning walk with a friend along the old canal towpaths on both sides of the Delaware River north of Trenton. Nice morning to get out — a bit frosty, but it warmed up in an hour or so. Lots of leaves to look at, geese and ducks in the canal or river to see and hear. And a couple unexpected things encountered as well.
Plus a nice cafe’ in New Hope, PA to stop at for a croissant and a coffee.
THE DAILY BUCKET IS A REGULAR FEATURE OF THE BACKYARD SCIENCE GROUP. IT IS A PLACE TO NOTE ANY OBSERVATIONS YOU HAVE MADE OF THE WORLD AROUND YOU. INSECTS, WEATHER, METEORITES, CLIMATE, BIRDS AND/OR FLOWERS. ALL ARE WORTHY ADDITIONS TO THE BUCKET. PLEASE LET US KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON AROUND YOU IN A COMMENT. INCLUDE, AS CLOSE AS IS COMFORTABLE FOR YOU, WHERE YOU ARE LOCATED. EACH NOTE IS A RECORD THAT WE CAN REFER TO IN THE FUTURE AS WE TRY TO UNDERSTAND THE PATTERNS THAT ARE QUIETLY UNWINDING AROUND US.

We started on the New Jersey side since there was early light shining on the Pennsylvania side for a nice view. Plus frosty things to photograph before the sun melted the frost away.
We walked into Lambertville and then crossed over the bridge into New Hope.
We headed back north on the canal trail on the Pennsylvania side. Odd, there seem to be a lot of runners out here this morning!
In the canal there were ducks or geese in the water. Mainly small groups and pairs of mallards. However, at one spot there was a group of ducks where one of about eight wasn’t a mallard.
