Arizona’s Republican and POW veteran Senator John McCain released a statement Tuesday, via the Senate Armed Services Committee, warning America and the world of what Donald Trump’s Bromance with Russian authoritarian Vladimir Putin could mean and how it will cost a mass of innocent lives.
Last week information emerged alleging Trump’s campaign had been in contact with the Kremlin throughout the entire election cycle, proving America’s 2016 election and democracy was compromised by an odious foreign influence. In addition, Trump may have been in violation of The Logan Act, which forbids unauthorized citizens from negotiating with foreign governments that have a dispute with the United States. In this case that would be Russia. Putin was one of the first to congratulate Trump on his election win and the two have spoken again this week. The Trump campaign adamantly denies any Russian involvement during the election cycle — well, because they are liars.
Here is McCain’s press release representing the Senate Armed Services Committee.
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ), Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, released the following statement today on U.S.-Russia relations:
“Vladimir Putin has rejoined Bashar Assad in his barbaric war against the Syrian people with the resumption of large-scale Russian air and missile strikes in Idlib and Homs. Another brutal assault on the city of Aleppo could soon follow.
“With the U.S. presidential transition underway, Vladimir Putin has said in recent days that he wants to improve relations with the United States. We should place as much faith in such statements as any other made by a former KGB agent who has plunged his country into tyranny, murdered his political opponents, invaded his neighbors, threatened America’s allies, and attempted to undermine America’s elections.
“The Obama Administration’s last attempt at resetting relations with Russia culminated in Putin’s invasion of Ukraine and military intervention in the Middle East. At the very least, the price of another ‘reset’ would be complicity in Putin and Assad’s butchery of the Syrian people. That is an unacceptable price for a great nation. When America has been at its greatest, it is when we have stood on the side those fighting tyranny. That is where we must stand again.”

I have little, if any, respect for McCain, the man who brought us Sarah Palin and waffled on his own support for Trump throughout the campaign. Still, I am to glad see anyone calling out Putin for the disgusting human being he is. More Republicans as well as Democrats need to speak out. More Americans need to speak out. More leaders and people of the world need to speak out.
