Republicans appear to want to move quickly on their plans to phase out Obamacare and Medicare. I reached out to my wingnut Congressman's office today, but got no response. I am unlikely to get one either. What is disconcerting is TPM is reporting Democrats appear to have no real idea of what the future may portend.
We are all still in shock because of the election, and still debating why it went down the way it did. We may never know the full answer to what happened, but if some of it had to do with Democrats not appealing to the economic anxieties of certain voters, defending Medicare, let alone Obamacare, would be a good way to start making that appeal.
For those of you in a Democratic district, it may be worth your time to give your representative a ring. From what's been reported, folks have phoned in about Steve Bannon, but Ryan's Medicare plan hasn't got the same attention. In the least, it may be worth it to put it in their radar. Getting caught flat footed on this may do a ton of harm to real people, and make Democrats look inept to boot.
