With Trump and the Republicans think of that song, “It’s All About The Money” by Meja. This is true fo their domestic policies — tax cuts for the wealthy, rolling back regulations to help the profits of big business, and eliminating the social safety net to zero out the tax obligations for businesses and the rich. And it seems that unless presented with overwhelming definitive proof the media is left to speculate what Trump’s REAL motives are for his dealings with the Russians and the present cover up.
Why are they overlooking the obvious motive of money?
Trump was put forward as a successful businessman. What do businessmen try to generate for themselves? Money. What has Trump bragged about having scads of ? Money. The only thing that remotely competes with Trump’s drive for money is his narcissism.
As pointed out by many other business reporters, Trump squandered his family’s wealth in a series of failed business deals in real estate and gaming. However, because the banks were so deep into lending to Trump, they could not close out Trump without posting huge losses. So the banks made Trump sell off parts of his companies over the years until Trump was left with licensing his name.
American banks will not lend Trump any more money, so when Trump hit his latest bankruptcy in 2008, it was reported that Trump got “investments” from Russian sources. Why is no one. except for a few like Josh Marshall at TPM, in the media paying any attention to that little detail?
Oh yeah. It’s because Trump will not release his tax returns. What do tax returns deal with? Money.
Why am I going over this obvious point? Because like others with an interest in seeing Trump fall, I have been watching plenty of TV. And there has been a lot of overthinking on Trump’s motives when it comes to Russia and the cover up, or so I am seeing from reporters.
It reminds me of all the speculation when it came to Chris Christie and Bridgegate. It was considered to0 wild to consider that Christie shut down a bridge to punish a Democratic mayor who did not endorse him for reelection. There must be some other super secret New Jersey political/financial motives other than petty revenge behind Bridgegate.
And, as revealed in the trial of Christie’s subordinates, it was petty revenge. All you had to do was look at what a bully Christie is to determine vindictiveness as a motive. But the media waited until the trial to say, “It REALLY was about Christie wanting petty revenge!” Wow!
Shit.
I see the same thing happening with Trump and Russia. In the end, it will come down to the Russians owning Trump. And the Russians can dictate policy to Trump because he owes a mountain of money to them. And unlike American banks, Putin and his gang will collect or kill you. This is not rocket science.
