Chris Hurst is running as a Democrat against Republican Joseph Yost for the Virginia House of Delegates. Hurst stepped up to run in part to honor the death of his girlfriend and reporter Alison Parker, who was shot and killed during a live broadcast. We here at the Daily Kos have been supporting Hurst and his bid to rid Virginians of their negative Republican overlords. Joseph Yost, feeling that pressure, has been trying to run a campaign that quietly pretends he isn’t a Republican. A couple of hours ago Yost went to his Facebook account to whine about his opponent running a “negative campaign ad” against him. It is a remarkable bit of hubris since the campaign ad in question literally points out Yost’s voting record—his very Republican voting record.
Kaboom
All of these people say otherwise, Mr. Yost
The post reads:
It's only mid-September and my opponent has already started to attack my bipartisan record in Richmond. And more attacks are coming to your mailboxes and tv screens.
If, during the next 48 days, you read or hear something that "doesn't sound like Joseph," please let me know. I'd be happy to give you my side of the story and answer any questions. You can call me at my office at (540) 922-8032 or send me an email at campaign@yostfordelegate.com.
It's sad that my opponent has been campaigning for months saying he wants to run a positive campaign, yet at the first opportunity he attacks me. The New River Valley deserves a representative that is proud to stand on their own record because they have lived here their entire life and roots run deep.
This is why I am proud to have been endorsed by groups from across the spectrum from the Virginia Education Association to the Virginia Farm Bureau to the National Federation of Independent Businesses to the National Rifle Association.
I'm proud to represent my home and I hope that you will continue to bring me any concerns that you have for the next 48 days as you have for the previous 6 years.
Proudly representing the 12th District,
Listen, Joseph Yost wants to hear from you. Well, Virginians got right on his post and began to point out why they were supporting Chris Hurst. I screenshot a bunch of comments (including the ones in the quote above), as there is a good chance they might begin “disappearing” in a bit. The fact of the matter is that Chris Hurst has only put this ad out that doesn’t even mention the worthless Yost.
On the other hand Yost doesn’t have a single thing to run on that shows anything resembling leadership. As far as negative campaign ads go however, here’s one from a few years back that Yost and the Republican Party put together that was entirely negative sounding, while offering nothing.
Voting for Joseph Yost sounds less appealing than swimming in sewage.
