I’ve had it. I really have. I saw that shitshow on Face the Nation and I also heard the remarks from Senator Perdue and Rand Paul. It’s one thing that we have an incompetent, unprofessional leader in the White House who lies at will; we all know that Trump lies and somehow the MSM seems to think that’s okay. This is what happens when the corporate media values ratings over the proper vetting of Presidential candidates. This is what happens when one of those candidates gets millions of dollars of free publicity at the expense of our electoral process in the name of profit. Donald Trump has always shown us exactly who he is and this bending over backwards, ‘asses in the air’ hope that somehow he would become someone else was a pointless waste of time. Now we are 1 year into this Presidency and the guy has lied more than there are days in an actual year.
I’m not surprised by what Trump has said because it’s who he is. Excuse me if I’m not impressed with the shock and awe of those in the media and the public in general. As Maya Angelou has always said, believe people when they show you who they are, and I would add — the first time.
But it is NOT okay for U.S. Senators to get on television and accuse their colleagues of lying because they think this is a sound political strategy. BULLSHIT. If Senate and House members of Congress now think that it’s okay to lie to the American people so blatantly, then it’s game over here. Our legislative body is broken.
My first thought was to let Senator Durbin know how incredibly angry I was that he stayed at a meeting when he was clearly out maneuvered and out manned — the moment the GOP decided to change the dynamics of that meeting that caused him to be the only Democrat in the room, he should have left or insisted that the Schumer and Pelosi be brought up to the White House. I have voted for Durbin since I lived here in Illinois (over 30 years) for both Congressman and Senator.
However after today’s morning network shows, I sent an email to Senator Durbin where I expressed my support for DACA and an immigration policy that is not racist. Furthermore, I told him that his colleagues in the Senate accused him of being a liar on national television and by doing so, they have signaled that they are no longer fit to govern.
As a federal employee, I told him to shut the damn government down because we have derailed badly and we need to get back on some sort of track here. The Democrats in general need to now understand that the GOP members of Congress have push aside their sworn duties as public servants in favor of the whims of a mad man. And let me add that I’m not rich person by any means and I need my paycheck just like everyone else, but I have to take a stand now because it’s simply the right thing to do. If I don’t stand for DACA recipients then I would be no better than those who brought my ancestors here in chains and has been trying to screw us ever since.
The GOP’s ‘ride or die’ with this President is going to kill us all and I don’t want to hear any backseat bickering from our side anymore. We must retake Congress in order to save this country from itself.
