Someone flagged a diary of mine with regard to ‘embracing socialism’ as an attempt at promoting a Party Line of some kind, allegedly against DailyKOS rules.
I don’t need names, I just need a thought process engagement. I just happen to be educated enough to know that socialism is not just a Political Party in the United States, it’s a belief system that can cross all party lines if it makes sense to you.
There are more beliefs: FASCISM, COMMUNISM, SOCIALISM, ANARCHISM, and PROGRESSIVISM.
I tend to think of the DAILYKOS, which I was a member of for years with a few sometime-y comments before I wrote the first diary let alone this last one … as more a mid-line kind of news rag, with progressivism smack dab in the middle of the conversation, not taking heed to any Party extremes one way or the other; though there is some thought, talk and speculation as to how “socialist” DailyKOS might be.
I don’t have a clue on that matter, and maybe I’m wrong.
Yet .. here are the POLITICAL PARTY LINES in America, in no particular order, as they go. Notably not the ONLY ones, but the major ones:
Libertarian Party
Reform Party
Prohibition Party
Green Party
American Delta Party
Communist Party
America’s Party
Peace and Freedom Party
American Falangist Party
Modern Whig Party
Tax Revolt Party
Socialist Labor Party
American Reform Party
Justice Party
United States Marijuana Party
American Solidarity Party
United States Pirate Party
Reform Party of New York
United States Pacifist Party
American Populist Party
Independence Party of America, and the two TAKEOVER Parties, last but not least:
Democrat Party and
Republican Party.
THE ‘No Invite’ Philosophy
I haven’t been invited to anybody’s Parties and wouldn’t accept the invite if I were to be.
I don’t adhere to them and don’t invite any labels of any kind into my stratospheric and magnificent presence on the Planet Earth, not even Trump’s newly induced coma called the “Space Force Party.”
Even as a young chick, I was surrounded by young women who believed the “thing to do” was to start a fight over a man, but since I wasn’t interested in any of them, I let them stay in their self-induced comas about “manology” and refused to be a “party” to it. Same thing here.
Yet, I do have a belief system that does not encompass prejudices against anyone else’s beliefs.
In other words, even if I have a religious preference, that is not an automatic invite to religious prejudices.
I believe them ALL, even my own chosen inspired faith, to be a smattering of truth mixed in a big ol’ pot of many lies and deceptions over time, and I also know the history behind it all. One has to choose a belief or set of values, then cleanse their souls by spewing out the trash and throwing out the garbage along the way.
By way of example, my Aunt (God Jehovah rest her) was a Jehovah’s Witness who didn’t believe much of what the JW doctrine taught. But before she died, she confessed that she only joined the Congregation because no one else was around to help her when she needed help the most. (Keep your kilts on — I was there for her when I could be, I just didn’t happen to live in the same state with her at the time. She joined them while living in California, I was living in Georgia.)
Define, Please...
The definition of the aforementioned LIFESTYLE belief systems (‘ad majorum’) are …
Anarchist: A person who believes in or tries to bring about anarchy. [Also closely associated with the more radical version of civil disobedience and defiance of ALL authority and governance.]
Fascist: A political philosophy, movement, or regime that exalts nation and often race above the individual; stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictator placed to cause severe economic and social regimentation and forcible suppression of all opposition. (Merriam Webster)
Communist: In political and social sciences, communism is the philosophical, social, political and economic ideology … whose ultimate goal is the establishment of the communist society, a socioeconomic order structured upon the common ownership of the means of production and the absence of social classes, money and ‘state.’ [Closely associated with Socialism, but not the same thing.] (Wikipedia)
Progressivist: The support for or advocacy of improvement of society by reform. As a philosophy, it is based on the idea of progress, which asserts that advancements in science, technology, economic development and social organization are vital to the improvement of the human condition. [ Also closely associated with Socialism, but not the exact same thing.] (Wikipedia)
Socialist: Socialism is a range of economic and social systems characterized by social ownership and workers' self-management of the means of production as well as the political theories and movements associated with them. (Wikipedia)
Feel free to add your own detail, I’m trying to keep it simple.
Ooops, I said a wordy durd
“Socialism.” [Insert BIG SQUAWK!!! here.]
There aren’t too many of the Republican Party that haven’t come close to committing self-inflated suicide and splicing themselves into teeny tiny fragments of mental huffiness every time they hear that word.
Unfortunately, very few of them know what it means, but they will beat themselves about the head and thigh with the jawbone of an ass going bonkers and all “pulp fiction” the second they hear it.
They can’t define it, nor the social ideas behind it except as an understanding from Foxean news sources that it is anything and everything that is anti-capitalist, and anything that is against capitalism is downright UN-American. That’s the end of it.
Wrong.
Socialism is not anti-capitalist, socialism advocates for the constructive movement of that capitalism in a way that ENHANCES society, so that all reap the benefits of their own work and no one owns it, owns them, or owns the right to enslave and define others in order to make themselves rich at everyone else’s expense.
Given …
America’s capital luxury was built off free economic labor. America is addicted to it and refuses to lay off the drugs, as evidenced by the burgeoning school-to-prison pipelines and corporate ownership of the prison systems in such as way as to continue the slavery unabated and “under color of law.”
So, that said I’m more of a believer in the ideas of progressivism than socialism, but the two could work together beautifully in an America built on honesty of purpose and opposed to man-made poverty.
This America needs to understand that THAT America is no longer relevant to a modern society, nor is it needed in this age.
A 200+ year old Constitution and its slave-oriented laws does not, will not and cannot address the needs of a modern slave-absent society, especially while it is still using the tactics of the southern antebellum past in order to create a future that is NOT sustainable. That’s it.
Don’t mix metaphors and similes on this in the literal sense of the word “socialist”.
Socialism as a Party is not a “thing” one way or the other in America. No one is paying enough attention to the Socialist Party to make it a thing, because it’s just another nightclub like the ones owned by the two-party line Democrats and Republicans these days. They’re really all the same, truth told, in more ways than we want to believe.
But the ideas behind socialism and democratism and progressivism should be a thing. You can be a Republican and STILL be a socialist, because the idea is to advance ahead, not to keep throwing the nation into a ditch on party line politics like someone simply doesn’t want the 1800s to end.
These ideas are absolutely sustainable to a true democracy in the real world in real time, even if not so much within a Party cult.
