Bernie addressed many issues: inequality, climate change, medicare for all, cost of medication, tuition, democratic socialism, racial disparity, racial justice, equality for LGBTQ, Russian cyberattacks, Venezuela, Washington D.C.’s status, reparations, sexual harassment within his campaign, and others.
First, overall, he did a good job of connecting with the audience. The audience was a fair one, even supportive, and they asked fair questions. This was a very diverse audience. He was informed. He addressed many topics. He was composed.
In my opinion, his best moments were when he discussed racial disparity instead of allowing the perception that he believed all inequality is economic to continue. He did stay focused on economic equality as much as possible because that is his main issue. He specifically separated racial disparity from economic inequality which has bothered many people. He quoted several statistics that backed up his view that racial disparity is real and significant.
