Conversations over “electability” have blown up, again, around water coolers and kitchen tables all across America ever since Kamala’s amazing speech in Detroit on Sunday. Naturally, social media jumped in with both feet!
We kicked it off with our Monday morning roundup, and then Kos took us all to the bakery for some delicious discussion and pie. The convo continued with Laura Clawson’s offering later on Monday, Kamala Harris shreds the pundits...
Now the wonderful Robyn Pennacchia over at Wonkette has decided to take us to church, and I don’t think you want to miss this sermon!
h/t to belinda ridgewood for sending this to my inbox… and thanks to all who continue to send tips and suggestions for our daily diaries!
Kamala Harris brought this up in her speech to the NAACP on Sunday:
There has been a conversation by pundits about "electability" and "who can speak to the Midwest?" But when they say that, they usually put the Midwest in a simplistic box and a narrow narrative. And too often their definition of the Midwest leaves people out. It leaves out people in this room, who helped build cities like Detroit.
...If there is a demographic of people who really don't want Donald Trump to be president but would absolutely refuse to vote for a woman or a gay man specifically because they are a woman or a gay man, that is a pretty small group. If you're gonna go in that direction, you might as well tailor your entire election strategy toward appealing to the two Shakers left in America. Either one would be just as effective.
There is absolutely no need to ever again talk about whether or not anyone is "ready" in this particular context. Throw it out the damn window. At this point, if someone is not "ready," they're not simply underprepared somehow, they're assholes who have absolutely no intention of ever being ready for the thing they are not currently ready for.
So fuck 'em.
I think y’all already know what Kamala has to say about it… 😃
Get involved!
Always and forever
How about that! I’m done for the day 😃
I know this is a bit different from our usual morning roundups, and I hope everyone’s ok with me mixing things up a bit! It would be great if everyone would volunteer at least one time and put up a diary about anything that’s important or of interest to you, even really short diaries — just so long as we can gather together and share our excitement for Kamala’s campaign!
I’ll be gone for most of the day, it’s the next-to-last-day of our Spayathon sponsored by the Humane Society U.S., and one of my favorite local rescue groups, The Sato Project! Today’s the day for four of my street kitties and I can’t wait — sterilized and vaccinated for FREE!!! With funds so tight, this really is a blessing beyond measure.
Before moving on to the comments, I hope you’ll support our group’s fundraising efforts. Congratulations to everyone who has chipped in, even if it’s only a dollar, because together we’ll see her through this historic campaign! Onward Joyful Warriors!
Hey guys…👀 just look at our thermometer 👀 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼
*Please remember this is a Kamala2020 group effort, and is not a Daily Kos sponsored or endorsed activity!
Congratulations everyone, our fundraiser for Kamala has been just incredible! We’ve done this in only 2 weeks… can you imagine what our thermometer will read over the next year-and-a-half!?! 😲

Group Guidelines
The Kamala2020 community group has been created to positively support Senator Kamala Harris, and not to engage in negativity towards other community members or any other Democrats running in the 2020 primaries.
All should be made to feel welcomed here. What’s not welcomed here is petty bickering over any of our preferred candidates, or personal attacks on fellow Democrats. We’re not responsible for the actions of others who may offend, insult or attempt to sow discord and disunity — that’s on them.
What we are responsible for are our own words and actions — that’s 100% on us.
I’d like to ask all group members, as well as those dropping by who support or are interested in Kamala’s bid for the nomination, that we not respond to negativity from other campaign’s supporters with negativity. Let’s do better than our best and respond with respect, or try to hold our peace. Doing no harm costs us nothing... pie-fights will cost us everything.
Let’s be as gracious as Kamala is toward the other candidates in the race!
💙💙💙 Happy Hump Day, and let’s be good to one another! 💙💙💙
