CNBC has an article up here on the Dumpster’s Twitter response to the New York Times expose on his taxes and having over a Billion dollars in loses. One single sentence in his tweet says everything we need to know:
“You always wanted to show losses for tax purposes....almost all real estate developers did – and often re-negotiate with banks, it was sport,”
Let’s unpack that one little line:
You always want to show losses — not you can, but you want to. I want to have the new Audi EV SUV when it comes out. I can’t afford it so I just take it off the lot. That is illegal but I want it. I guess the Dumpster thinks it’s ok because he wants it. Sort of like the Rethug tax bill — it will bankrupt the country but we want the money. We will just lie and take the money. Because everyone wants to — we just have the ability to do it and get away with it.
Next, I show losses and the we just renegotiate with the banks. In other words, either we lie to the tax agencies or we lie to the bank. So many ways to commit fraud, so little conscience. If the tax numbers are correct, then we just lie to the banks and they will give us the money. Because, what was the reason? Oh, yeah, because we can and no one is really looking so who cares.
Finally, it shows the true idiocy of this man. By waving his hand at the underlying fraudulent nature of this behavior while admitting it in public he shows he truly believes his own “want” is a much higher calling than any concept of morality or legality. He has just, in one sentence, explained exactly why he needs to be impeached:
- He does not care if he has done anything illegal;
- He thinks everyone has his moral values, therefore why shouldn’t he do want he wants;
- He has no remorse for illegal acts;
- He sees the basic method of supporting our democracy, willful compliance with tax codes, as a “sport” to destroy;
- He states the Rethug belief that the wealthy shouldn’t pay taxes is absolutely correct — regardless of whether they actually owe them.
He is a child waving a machine gun at our way of life and saying “give me everything I want or I will keep shooting”. You take the gun away — you don’t keep saying poor sweet misunderstood baby. It doesn’t matter why — it matters what.
I have been one of the reluctant “stay the course and see what happens” on impeachment. Not after this travesty.
