Polls have closed in North Carolina’s 9th Congressional District, which is hosting primaries in the do-over special election that was called because officials invalidated the results of last year’s race due to Republican election fraud. Marine veteran Dan McCready, who was the Democratic nominee in 2018, is unopposed for his party’s nomination, while 10 Republicans are battling it out for theirs.
If no one wins 30%, the top two vote-getters will advance to a Sept. 10 runoff, with the general election to be held Nov. 5. If there is no runoff, the general election will take place on Sept. 10.
