Plame is, of course, the same CIA spy (working on nuke non-proliferation issues) whose cover was treasonously burned by the Shrub Club Boyz a ways back, is running for the open seat of New Mexico’s 3rd Congressional District. My District, BTW, where I have lived nearly 50 years.
Last night, in a broadcast interview with SiriusXM's The Press Pool with Julie Mason she said:
...the U.S. lost leverage in its relationship with Iran when the Trump administration withdrew a year ago from Iran's nuclear deal with world powers. Plame says U.S. national security adviser John Bolton "never saw a war that he didn't want to jump in."
Plame, who lives in Santa Fe, … says a war with Iran would be devastating for all involved and is warning of warmongering tendencies within the Trump administration.
Now, I have been heard here to cast a bit of shade on Plame for being a huera carpetbagger in the highly ethnic CD3, but the District is strong solid blue and has a major component of ultra lefty Anglo gabachos such as myself, dating back over the past 50 years or so of moving to and becoming intrinsic parts of the traditional communities there.
While the rest of the emerging field of contenders for the Dem nomination is still jockeying about to find their place and get their cowboy hats properly placed on their heads, I see this move of Plame’s as an astute reading of el Norte’s political weather.
Remember that NM CD3 still holds the US record for a Green Party candidate showing in a Congressional-level general election (1997), her 17% being enough to spoil the bid by the unpopular and odious Dem candidate Eric Serna and give a rare victory to the Republican Bill Redmond. (www.cnn.com/...)
So my regard for Plame has improved here and I might even start to throw her some support, especially if a bunch of other candidates jump into this race in addition to the six already announced, and fight for attention.
I’ll certainly be watching Plame more closely in hopes to hear more of what I want from my Rep.
