In my quest to understand the progressive mindset, I’ve heard the occasional rumbling in recent weeks that President Obama wasn’t far enough to the left for many Democrats today. Some of his policies, particularly at the border, are being called out.
Is this anecdotal? Am I just talking to the wrong progressives? Is his status as one of the greatest Democrats to sit in the Oval Office fading as his party pushes further to the left?
TPP seemed like a step in the wrong direction as progressives panned it.
Is his legacy one of transition, perhaps? Was he the opening salvo into a New Democratic Party, a pre-Democratic Socialist whose policies aligned too much with the Republican-controlled Congress in order to get stuff done?
Thanks for your replies.
