What up Daily Kos its the promised day yet again. I am currently writing this seated in a beanbag chair. Its kind of cramped on the legs but I’m making the most of it. Let the enemies of justice cower in fear, for they too will learn the hard truth that Monday is always coming.
So lets get down to brass tacks.
Sarah Huckabee Sanders faced backlash on Friday for the way in which she bid farewell to her role as White House press secretary.
Sanders tweeted she would “walk out the gates of the White House” with “my head held high.” It prompted many people to point out her well-documented history of lying on behalf of President Donald Trump’s administration and failure to hold an official press briefing in the last 100-plus days of her job.
Go out with her head held high? Yeah no. Nobody who works for Trump does anything with their head held high. No go away and be forgotten please.
“I open by calling Donald Trump the Joker because chaos is what Donald Trump can do,” said Joy Reid, author and host of MSNBC's “AM Joy," during our Salon Talks interview. Reid was describing the opening passages of her new book “The Man Who Sold America: Trump and the Unraveling of the American Story.”
Trump has given us so much chaos, all by design, as Reid notes. he has been so successful at stirring up chaos because he understands of how the media works and uses it to get his version of the “truth” out. Decades ago, Trump even pretended to be his own press representative to pitch juicy news stories about his personal life.
Really worth reading this whole interview. There is a lot of interesting stuff there.
Senate Republicans are struggling to unite behind a plan to fund the government after budget talks have ground to a halt.
Congress has until the end of September to prevent the second government closure of the year, but Republicans are struggling to overcome the first roadblock -- agreeing to topline defense and nondefense figures or deciding what comes next if they can't.
The drama over how to fund the government and avoid deep budget cuts has played out in private, closed-door meetings and put a public spotlight on the high-profile split among Republicans as well as with the White House about the best path to avoiding a shutdown.
Once again the GOP demonstrates they have no clue how to actually run a country. Lets get rid of these dummies post haste.
Obama-era White House photographer Pete Souza delivered a scathing response to President Donald Trump’s palling around with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the G-20 summit in Osaka, Japan, on Friday.
Ooh, Souza hitting Trump right where it hurts. Of course Putin aint doing so hot himself. Its amazing, anyone who backs Trump seems to end up losing. Funny that.
2020 Democratic hopeful Kamala Harris was the target of a birtherism-like attack — retweeted and then deleted by President Trump's son Donald Trump Jr. — targeting her identity as "not an American Black." Her rivals for the Democratic nomination jumped to her defense on Saturday, including former Vice President Joe Biden, who she confronted about race at Thursday's debate.
Yeah, the GOP trying this dumb shit again, and the Dems are not having it. Sorry Jr, but you mess with one of us, you mess with ALL of us.
Well, that’s it for this week. It was actually quicker going than usual, the good news was easier to find than usual. As usual check out the GNR Spotify list, and have a super week and a happy 4th of July.
