I come in peace.
We will all support and GOTV for any Dem nominee, just like last time and every time, and we will all encourage everyone else who claims to be on the left to do the same. We care about winning in the real world, not in the perfect world we’d choose. We didn’t want to see a President Trump last time, and we certainly don’t want to see one this time. We cannot let that happen.
I for one love Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders, but I would be ecstatic to have any of the Dems as president and would love for any and all to be able to beat Trump. Perhaps any will be able to do so. But I am not so sure. Even the leading candidates will each have their own really rough challenges defeating Trump, the evangelicals, the haters, the big bucks of the billionaires, and the mysterious Russians who like Facebook much more than I do.
Surely it is time to once again take the blinders off against Bernie before it is too late. The best old person to beat Trump, at least in Iowa, is Sanders not Biden. Blinders against old man, bad heart, socialist Bernie must be taken off.
Last time, Clinton narrowly edged Sanders in the Iowa caucus (en.m.wikipedia.org/...) then lost the state in the general by a huge margin (en.m.wikipedia.org/...). General elections are state by state contests that make things like gut likability important. We can complain till the cows and hogs come home, but Iowans in the general obviously did not like Clinton nearly enough.
What about this time?

I am going back and forth in my mind between Warren and Sanders. I’ve given $27 several times for Sanders in the last year, but I must admit that I also love Warren and would love to see her get the nomination. For now I want them both in the race, but I wish they would not be splitting the progressive vote and that there were a system in place for rank voting because I love them both—broken record I know. I’m really looking forward to Warren’s MFA payment policy plan, as I have a great deal of confidence in her decision-making and leadership. She would make a great president.
But if winning in Iowa’s general is the point, I have to say that Bernie is probably best right now, old ticker and all. So best we not lose sight of that. Best we take our blinders off.
