While I believe the house will pass articles of impeachment, the trial in the senate will be a joke. The Republicans still will not say whether they think what Trump did was wrong. Whether there was a quid pro quo is irrelevant, Trump did ask Ukraine to investigate the 2016 election and Biden. IMO that is why the republicans are trying to fight the process and not the allegations. Whenever I hear anyone claiming something I always ask “DO THEY HAVE A REASON TO LIE”. In the present situation Trump has every reason to lie and the witnesses overall do not. This of course is not going to matter one IOTA to most republicans, they are to afraid of not getting reelected to vote for impeachment. So it looks like we get to deal with Trump until he decides to leave office, I don’t think he will leave even if he loses the election. The one thing I don’t understand is why republicans are afraid to vote for impeachment. It is my understanding that if he is convicted he is immediately removed from office and can’t run again, so once convicted he has no power. He will no longer have his bully pulpit, so do what is right.
