I am following up on John Dean’s Tweet, referred to in ProgToddNorCal’s post and comment by Stoneclearing, so it may be old news on this site (I’ve been away). Still, I have some questions:
John DeanVerified account @JohnWDean
Sending out again: Let’s impeach him now and NOT send it to the Senate rather keep investigating in the House, and add such supplemental articles as needed! Just let it hang over his head. If the worst happens and he is re-elected, send it to the Senate. But keep investigating!!

I am not a lawyer or a Constitutional Law expert, but this seems right to me. Keep the impeachment hanging over Trump, don’t let McConnell get his hands on the trial, open investigations into McConnell (some stirrings in that arena already) so he has to recuse himself. The publicity will continue to be terrible for Trump, and the more that comes out about his crimes the worse it will be for the Republicans.
Jennifer Rubin’s WaPo article today outlines 6 ways for Dems to stop the sham trial, and she has a concern about this strategy, i.e. that it will leave Dems open to charges of wasting everyone’s time. I think that if the House opens more investigations, and pins the “sham trial” tag on Senate Republicans, that risk is small.
What happens if McConnell is being investigated and he has to recuse himself? Will Schumer be in charge then?
If our constitutional experts on DK aren’t exhausted, I’d like to know what they think about Dean’s tweet and Rubin’s concerns.
