There are differences between the Falwellians, Grahamites or Robertsonists and people who live in the world of the mostly sane. Does anyone doubt that had COVID-19 erupted under a Democratic administration, the clones of Jerry Falwell would be out on the street corners preaching about how the wrath of God was descending on the heathen Democrats to punish them for their lack of piety and grace.
Right now they are trying to come up with an implausible way of blaming Barack/Hillary/Adam/Nancy/Joe/Bernie for tRump’s failures as a leader. It’s a heavier lift now that they’ve had to backtrack on their claims of it all being a Democratic hoax to harm tRump.
Fun Fact: A group of lemmings is called a suicide of lemmings.
A party without a plan
I’m kind of surprised Falwell & Co aren’t more worried about their flocks deserting them for the newly formed tRumpish and Hannitarian sects. With tRump and Hannity the faithful won’t even have to pay lip service to Jesus. It’ll lessen their overall cognitive dissonance and detract from Paula White’s designer shoe budget, Falwell Jr’s kinky leatherwear acquisitions and Pat Robertson’s ability to pay for his life-extending virgin sacrifices.
Between you and me, watching some red-faced, spittle-flecked screamer screech out their vitriolic version of truth-free truth or loudly proclaim their charity-free tRumpian style charity is far worse than straight up apathy (think Gym Jordan, Paula White or Jeanine Pirro). Republican leadership is rife with morally bankrupt, ethically corrupt, legally culpable and politically dishonest actors. I find their behavior appalling, depressing and infuriating. None of them gets a free pass anymore.
In a very low turnout (20%) special election yesterday, Rob Prah came up around 900 votes short. It’s on to November for the rematch.
This reaction should be more common
Hero worship, tRump style.
For profit Christianity is back to selling indulgences and dispensations.
Turds of a feather.
