Just a rant.
GF and I have, in addition to our mobile numbers, a land line. Don't like it? Get off our lawn. We have our reasons, chief among which is the pleasant surprise of nice chat with one of the other's friends, which doesn't happen if people call solely by cell.
Like any luddites clinging to this quaint custom, we get a lot of spam. Heather from Card Services is very concerned about our vehicle warranty and the security of our microsoft windows. And, like many fellow-sufferers, we have come to ignore any "Unavailable," "Toll Free" callers. You’re unavailable? Funny, us too.
Recently, we've gotten a lot of blank spam calls from the same couple of tumbled "numbers," so we decided to answer and see if it was someone we actually knew. And it was, in a way.
The first time we answered "732-...." it was Emily's List, to whom we have donated in the past. They were immediately told to remove our number from their autodialer and never call again. This morning, when old 732 rang, it was the DSCC, whom we also have supported and would like to continue supporting.
But we will not donate to any campaign or organization that solicits by phone without clear caller ID. Period.
What's more, any organization or campaign that uses non-true-ID contractors should stop. I mean, why in the world to you want to identify a cause as fine as your own to one of the most hated things in America? That is only going to get even more hated in coming weeks and months as people sit at home and realize just how often you're calling them.
Yes, commenters, I'm aware of block services. Not everyone is or subscribes to them. A lot of them are old coots set in their ways like me.
You know. The people most likely to vote?
This is the most important election in our nation's history. We need to have the trust and good will of our most reliable, longtime supporters.
Heather from Card Services should not be the face of our movement.
