IGNORANCE is defined as lack of knowledge, education or awareness. Someone who is ignorant actually has the mental capacity to learn. That does not include Donald J. Trump. He is not ignorant — — he is morbidly stupid, which is defined as follows:
www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/stupid
stupid, dull, dense, crass, dumb mean lacking in power to absorb ideas or impressions. stupid implies a slow-witted or dazed state of mind that may be either congenital or temporary
When Trump was given US intelligence reports back in January about this virus, he chose to ignore them. According to Arne Duncan, the United States Secretary of Education from 2009 through December 2015, Trump refuses to even read reports from our intelligence officers. Duncan recently stated to Trump’s sidekicks “. . . to all those who aided and placated him, you have blood on your hands!”. Trump hasn’t the mental capacity to attend and understand the daily presidential briefings, his attention span is so limited he cannot listen to anyone other than his own inner voice for more than a minute or two. He is so deluded and puffed up with false pride that he cannot see the world in front of him. When the Obama administration left office they conducted a briefing session specifically designed to enlighten the incoming administration about pandemic procedures, all their advice was ignored. The CDC official in change during Obama’s time of pandemic response was fired by Trump, no replacement was installed.
Now Trump makes his daily false assertions to the people that millions of masks and other medical supplies are in production and on the way, assuring us that we have plenty of safeguards and that he has another “hunch” that all will be well. Rack those comments up with his former statements that the virus was a hoax, nothing more than a common cold, many people go to work (of course, that way they are spreading the virus without knowing it), that only 15 people got it in the US and they would be over it immediately, and we need not worry because the virus will be dead in April. Suddenly, we the people are all supposed to trust and believe everything coming out of Trump’s mouth without question?
Even if the masks were delivered tomorrow, how many of our courageous medical workers are already carrying the virus without knowing? Even if we get the necessary medical supplies, will there be enough medical personnel still healthy enough to use them?
Now his supporters stress the necessity of avoiding any and all criticism of Trump’s administration, of pulling together and forgetting the past. However, when pressed on an issue by reporters, Trump calls them names, throws another tantrum and evades all pertinent questions. His thinking and actions (or lack thereof) are still that of a reality TV show host, not the actions of a man who is representing a major world country. His deepest concern is his own well being and that of his extended family. His oath of office was taken with his fingers crossed.
Not only is Trump mentally unfit to handle the virus, he is the virus. Let’s find a cure for his despotic, deluded and dangerous behavior before it’s too late. Let your congressional representatives who are still blindly following him know how you all feel about a leader putting himself and his personal interests above those of his countrymen. They bear as much responsibility for this state of disaster and chaos as Trump himself.
