U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-Of Course) managed to really step in it during early Tuesday evening. In response to a tweet from the Daily Caller regarding Speaker Peolsi’s work on the COVID-19 Relief Bill, Senator Cramer managed to remind us in this part of the country just how much his defeat of Heidi Heitkamp stung.
He said — “She’s retarded”.
Yes, you read that correctly. Retarded. And yes I’m using the word because people need to know just how low the Distinguished Gentleman from North Dakota sank today.
When contacted by a reporter from the Fargo Forum, he blamed his “fat fingers”. Apparently the auto-correct feature of Twitter changed “ridiculous” to that other word.
As Forum columnist Mike McFeeley pointed out:
It’s not exactly clear what fat fingers have to do with auto-correct, but we do know this: If you type the word "ridiculous" into Twitter -- and, yes, I experimented -- the social media web site doesn't auto-correct. It lists suggested words in a bar below the tweet. The suggested words include "ridiculously" and "ridiculousness."
The other "r" word does not show up.
Below is a screen grab of the exchange. And yeah, I’m having trouble buying the whole fat finger excuse either.
Trouble is Sen. Cramer has a fairly safe seat in a state that will likely go for Pres. Trump by over 25%. He can apologize all he wants, but the truth will always remain, even if he deleted it. The Internet, much like the North, remembers.
