We need N95 masks that allow us to smile, scowl, or stick our tongue at people.
Masks are now required to enter stores where I reside, even as other states are trying to “open up” their economies, ignoring that necessity reminds us that we must change so many things for at least the next couple of years because even with vaccines, so much immunity (70%) must be developed.
I’m planning for it, even if the burdens seem now so overwhelming. Eventually, I expect to do things with recreational value, to finish doing a refresher course in programming now, and to do the little things necessary for each day. MFP is trying to keep calm in my waking hours.
Our biggest MFP:
Is life too short to learn German, hold long-term grudges, or is it just long enough to quote Elon Musk, because the COVID-19 mitigation is not fascism. He does know it relative to apartheid South Africa.
However, mitigation and testing can become fascism when we forget that our post-pandemic life must radically change. Life is, as the pandemic has taught us, too fucking short.
We must plan for those post-pandemic times, whether it’s supporting contact tracing without compromising privacy, or just being kind to those with whom we interact behind our masks.
