DK Quilt Guild: A place for quilters to gather, share ideas, projects, and to make the world a better place, one quilt at a time. Join us and share your thoughts, projects, questions, and tips. Quilters here are at many different levels of skill. Beginners and non-quilters are welcome, too.
We NEED diarists!
Your diary can be elaborate and full of photos, a simple story of your own quilting history or that of someone you love, a discussion of a current project or a technique you're learning, new adventures... You could post quilt retreat-day recipes (things like crockpot meals, so food appears without much attention from you)...
We could do show and tell or open thread, also, but either way, we need diarists to host. It is EASY if you're willing to take the chance.

----------------------------------------------------
I began the quilt that these pieced sections belong to several years ago. It was set aside, as I felt the large white spaces needed something to pull the rest of the quilt together.
I pulled it out last year and decided to make the little butterflies, using my own pattern then set it aside as I was not quite sure if I should leave them as is or add the bodies.
Just a few weeks ago I pulled it out once again with the intention of sewing the heads, antennae and bodies on by hand. It quickly became apparent that even though I can, and have done beautiful embroidery I wasn't going to succeed with these. What to do?? After about a week of wondering, it hit me to applique the body and use embroidery floss to stitch on the antennae.
Finding the correct material among my stash took a bit of time. Pulling out some prints in purple, and blue. However none of them really perked up the butterflies until I discovered back in a drawer the material with the dotted pattern! I’m glad I found it, as it really has made a difference as you can see.
Perhaps I can convince myself in several months (?) to do another diary, when I have done more work on the quilt. Which, when finally finished will go to a great niece.
