For the fourth time in the last 12 months we have to say good by to a wonderful companion as the cross the Rainbow Bridge. This time is our beautiful 13 year old Turkish Van Tala. While we knew the other 3 were going, 2 were euthanized and the other died while we were deciding if it was time, Tala was out of the blue. She was never much of an affectionate cat. She would occasionally get on one of our laps for a short time then leave. We recently noticed that she had lost some weight and were starting to keep an eye on her but she acted normal until Saturday. When I got up Saturday she was lying on the counter and when she turned around she was struggling to do so. I told my wife when she got up so she could keep any eye on her while I was working. By that time Tala was hiding somewhere, she liked to do that from time to time mainly to avoid the puppy. She didn’t come out at lunch time. That is somewhat unusual but not unheard of. At some point she came out to get a drink from the water bowl near the sink and apparently died there. We found her a few hours after lunch time. We really don’t know what happened.
I’m still in shock and don’t really know what to say.
