Two different friends warned me the other day to ask folks for specifics when they say they’ve been “staying at home”. Turns out a couple of their friends were “only” going out to eat inside a restaurant twice a week and only going to the mall to shop for clothes and such once a week.
I should have known this because I’m very specific when out walking a dog and meet another. I always ask “Is your dog friendly?” and I almost always get a “yes” even when the dog isn’t close to friendly.
I learned to follow that first question up with “Does your dog play with other dogs?” I actually had one woman mutter “Well, he did kill that one dog that one time”. Aiy, yai, yai!!
I’m going to be more specific now when checking to see how social people have been if they want to see me.
This is how I stay at home:
~I’m only cleaning one house a week right now. For people who work in the medical field and are very careful. I clean while they’re gone.
~Every other week I shop at 3 stores for my groceries and cleaning supplies. (Just to get the best prices.) I get gas for my car then too, and pick up my mail from the post office.
~I’m boarding dogs because my clients are traveling (?!?!). They open my gate, put their dog in my yard and leave the dogs belongings hanging on the gate.
~I’ve been to a neighbors a few times for pool time. I bought their 1 year old a baby pool for her birthday. I bring my own chair and sit 10’ away. I talk to a few neighbors with the 2 lane street between us.
~Some of the neighbor kids come over to play with the dogs. We sit outside in chairs 10’ apart.
~I’ve gotten take-out twice from a place whose inside dining is closed.
~I’ve been to the vet once and several doctors.
That’s it. That’s me staying at home. What about you?
