I live in a fairly red area of New Jersey - Toms River in Ocean County - and have over the weekend witnessed in my town three pop-up stands selling Trump paraphernalia, especially (my favorite) a big banner of Trump's head on machinegun-wielding Rambo's body. These are fly-by-night stands, either out of an RV or under a lawn canopy, selling official Trump merchandise at a small discount from web prices, from what I hear. MAGA hats, yard signs, big TRUMP 2020 banners to fly from the bed of your F250. A young African-American woman was handling the cash box at a stand I just saw on Rt 571. I saw others on Rt 37 on the way over the bridge to Island Beach (one of the finest beaches in the Northeast), and another one on Fischer Ave.
I don't remember seeing pop-ups like this during any other campaign. I flip them the one-finger salute and would love to curse them out, but the tawdriness of the whole display just makes me turn away in embarrassment.
Has anyone else encountered these? Has anyone seen a Biden/Harris display like that?
